I Hate Myself, But I Love You

Dear Ms. HeartBeat:
I have been with my man for about 4 years now. I really do love him and have given up my friends and all for him. I moved here from Kentucky. I have a five year old with someone else, and he's my life. I don't go party like a normal 22 year old should, because he thinks I have to ask him if I can. I take good care of my son and I love him, but he's so unhappy because this guy I'm with mistreats him. I know that I should leave, and can't get the balls to just go! Please help me, I'm desperate. I don't want my child to resent me for letting this go on.  -- Female, 22, Desperate

Dear Desperate:
How dare you tell me in one breath how much you love your son, and in the next breath that you sit there and let some butt hole mistreat your child!  You are sacrificing your son's mental, physical, and emotional health because you are too afraid to admit you made a horrible mistake?

Too frequently women like you end up attending their child’s funeral after the baby has been beaten to death by an angry, out -of-control boyfriend.  Should that happen, your dumb butt and his dumb butt will both end up in prison, right where you belong.  You will have years to remind yourself of how you could have been a more responsible mother and saved your son.  That is all I have to say.
